Jory Bice, better known by his artist aliases elixir (DJ) and elx (producer), has been a cornerstone of Canada’s underground electronic scene since the late ’90s. With over two decades behind the decks, his journey has taken him from basement raves and warehouse parties to headlining stages at major festivals across North America. Whether spinning high-octane trance at sunrise or dropping cinematic techno during midnight sets, elixir is known for his ability to craft sonic journeys that balance emotional depth with undeniable dancefloor energy.

Raised in the pulse of Toronto’s rave scene, elixir got his start playing ambient sets using layered vinyl samples, tape loops, and early synth gear at Ontario’s legendary OM Festival. His early gigs led to pivotal residencies with iconic promoters Hullabaloo and Destiny Productions, landing him on the main stages of landmark events like WEMF (World Electronic Music Festival). It was here he shared stages with industry heavyweights like Paul Oakenfold, Binary Finary, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Chris Liberator, and M-Zone.

Over time, his sound evolved from hardcore and trance into a genre-bending blend of techno, UK bass, breaks, drum & bass, and electronica — always anchored by groove and emotion. His ability to shift styles fluidly—from gritty electro to slow-burning hypnotic rollers—keeps his sets fresh, immersive, and never the same twice.

As a producer under the alias elx, his discography spans multiple albums, including Back to the Rhythm, Back at It (drum & bass), Madness and Melody, and Electric Love Chronicles. His latest release, Groove Echoes (2025), is a 14-track deep dive into the moods and movements of nightlife—equal parts dancefloor and daydream. Crafted entirely in his personal studio, it’s an unfiltered reflection of his vision, built from the ground up with FL Studio, analog synths like the Access Virus B, and grooveboxes like the Future Retro 777.

In recognition of his contributions, elixir is now a three-time winner of the Fraser Valley Music Awards for Best Electronic Artist (2018, 2022, 2025). The award underscores his genre-fluid creativity, technical mastery, and enduring presence as a pioneer in Canada’s electronic music community.

Beyond music, his passion for visual storytelling shines through in his photography. He frequently exhibits canvas photo prints from his global adventures at shows and festivals—bridging his musical and visual worlds.

In 2025, elixir is hitting the road with appearances at:

  • June 13Groove Echoes Album Release Party at HubCo Brewing, Mission BC

  • June 18–23 – Asundance Festival in Cawston, BC

  • June 28–30 – Summer Intentions Festival on the Sunshine Coast

  • July 4–6 – Way Too Loud Festival in Dawson Creek, BC (headlining return)

From underground legend to community builder, elixir’s work remains rooted in his love for rave culture, his commitment to live expression, and his mission to uplift, energize, and resonate long after the final beat.
