Jory Bice, known professionally as elixir (DJ) and elx (producer), has been a driving force in Canada’s underground electronic music scene since the late ’90s. With more than 25 years behind the decks, his path has taken him from basement raves and warehouse parties to festival stages and international streams. Known for tight technical mixing and genre-bending sets, elixir builds immersive sonic journeys that balance emotional depth with high-impact dancefloor energy.
Raised in the pulse of Toronto’s rave culture, elixir began performing ambient and experimental sets using layered vinyl, tape loops, and early synth gear at Ontario’s legendary OM Festival. Early momentum led to residencies with influential promoters Hullabaloo and Destiny Productions, and appearances at landmark events including WEMF (World Electronic Music Festival), where he shared stages with artists such as Paul Oakenfold, Binary Finary, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Chris Liberator, and M-Zone.
His sound has continuously evolved — from hardcore and trance roots into a fluid blend of techno, UK bass, breaks, drum & bass, and cinematic electronica. Whether delivering sunrise trance, deep rolling basslines, or broken-beat pressure, elixir is recognized for sets that are dynamic, story-driven, and never predictable.
As a producer under the alias elx, his catalog spans multiple albums and label releases across genres. Notable works include Back to the Rhythm, Back at It, Madness and Melody, Electric Love Chronicles, and the 14-track album Groove Echoes. Recent releases include multiple tracks on B-Nasty Beats, including contributions to the Holiday Compilation (BNB081) alongside Nick K2 and D.J. Degen, featuring his trance/progressive track Brooooding and drum & bass cut Woah the F Min. He also released three tracks on Rapid Fire Records under the EP Feed the Pepys, including Everybody in the Space, Flashback, and the title track.
In recognition of his impact and longevity, elixir is a three-time Fraser Valley Music Award winner for Electronic Artist of the Year (2018, 2022, 2025), highlighting both his technical mastery and continued creative output.
Recent highlights include headlining the Rave Alarm live and streaming event in Toronto alongside DJ Flapjack, returning performances at Glow Yoga events at the University of the Fraser Valley, and festival appearances including Winter Intentions at Loon Lake, Summer Intentions, Asundance Festival, Way Too Loud Festival, and multiple Salt Spring Island shows alongside drum & bass pioneer Marcus Visionary. He has also delivered featured club and event sets across British Columbia, including specialty and seasonal showcases in Mission and the Fraser Valley.
Beyond music, Jory is also a visual creator and designer, frequently showcasing his photography as large-format canvas prints at events and festivals. His visual and sonic work often intersect, reflecting a consistent focus on atmosphere, storytelling, and emotional resonance.
From underground mainstay to modern multi-disciplinary artist, elixir continues to push forward — driven by rave culture roots, technical precision, and a lasting commitment to moving dance floors and minds alike.
